Somehow the name of something I searched ended up under the opening icon instead of firefox mozilla. How do I change it back? It doesn't seem to affect the operation of the program.

Sounds that you created a desktop shortcut to a website on your desktop.
You create such a shortcut if you drag a link or tab or the favicon on the location bar on the desktop.
You can delete that desktop shortcut.

Don't you have the regular Firefox desktop shortcut to start Firefox?

You can create a new Firefox desktop shortcut via a right-click on the Mozilla Firefox item in "Start menu > All Programs > Mozilla Firefox".
Right-click the Mozilla Firefox item and choose: Send To > Desktop (create shortcut).
If the Mozilla Firefox entry in the Start menu is missing then you can use Windows Explorer to create a new folder structure and place a shortcut to the Firefox.exe program file in that folder

C:\Users\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Mozilla Firefox
