Network traffic only happens when mouse cursor is moving over Firefox window. It's even stopping me sending this message! Doesn't affect 32-bit XP machine.

Thanks for these suggestions - for some reason though the problem went away. I have Norton Utilities set to run automatically and I think it may have tidied the cache or cookies for me.
