Which flash plugin versions are supported on Firefox 7.0.1?
I recently upgraded to Firefox 7.0.1 running on Solaris 10 (SPARC) and my flash plug-in is no longer working. It is not listed in the Tools/Add-ons page and if I follow the "Check to see if your plugins are up to date" link, I get the following message:
Missing FLASH? For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Flash. Please upgrade to the latest version.
I have installed the latest version of the flash plugin for Solaris/SPARC (11.0.1.152) and still get the same message. In addition, the flash plugin is listed in the INVALID section of my pluginreg.dat file, so I know it is finding the correct plugin.
This is only happening on Solaris/SPARC. The same flash plugin version works correctly with Firefox 7.0.1 on Solaris 10/X64 (x86 version obviously) and on Windows.
Is this a problem with the Solaris/SPARC build?
Is there any way to override Firefox's version requirement for the flash plugin?

You are looking in the wrong place the Flash plug-in is not an extension.
You can check here by clicking on the "Verify installation" button at http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
When installing software only install what you needed, many otherwise "reputable" are suggesting and defaulting the installation of additional software categorically referred to as "crapware", and often difficult to remove particularly toolbars. Here is one example of added crapware...

Aside from the processor speed requirement I have a dual 1280 Mhz CPU Sun Blade 2500, yes.
Both the 10.3.183.5 and 11.0.1.152 versions of the flash plugin for SPARC work with Firefox 6.0.2.

What version to you have installed (Add-ons > Plugins > Shockwave Flash)?

Prior to upgrading from Firefox 6.0.2 to Firefox 7.0.1 I was running version 10.3.183.5 of the flash plugin. After upgrading to Firefox 7.0.1, I noticed that flash was no longer working, so I downloaded and installed version 11.0.1.152 of the flash plugin. I downloaded the damn thing three times to make sure I got the correct one and that it wasn't somehow corrupted. Same results every time.
As I mentioned above, the flash plugin does not show up in the Tools/Add-ons/Plugins page for Firefox 7.0.1. The "Check to see if your plugins are up to date" page displays a message indicating that the flash plugin is out of date and has been disabled. The Tools/Add-ons/Plugins page of Firefox 6.0.2 shows the expected version number for the flash plugin.

- Which version of Firefox are you using to go to the Plugins Check page? (Plugin Check --> http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ )
- NOTE: "Shockwave Flash" must be enabled or the above pages will not detect it; so your statement contradicts what will actually occur.
- You can also check your version of Flash here --> https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
- Note that "Shockwave Flash" must be enabled for the test to work.
- Do you have both versions of Firefox installed (version 6.0.2 and 7.0.1)?
- If so, do you have a separate profile for each version? (You should)
According to the quote from you, above, if you are going to the Plugins Check page, it is seeing "Shockwave Flash", but an old version. "Shockwave Flash" is the name given by Adobe to the Adobe Flashplayer plugin that will show in Add-ons > Plugins

You need a 32 bit Flash version for a 32 bit Firefox version and a 64 bit Flash version for a 64 bit Firefox version.

OK, I finally figured this out. The question should have been, "Why does firefox invalidate a plugin?"
At least one answser is, because the plugin is not readable due to permissions.
What happened was this, I updated flash and the libflashplayer.so file was installed with permissions that only allowed the owner (root) to read it. When I restarted firefox with my user id, it could not read the flash plugin and invalidated it. I noticed the permissions problem and fixed that but then had to remove the pluginreg.dat file from my Firefox profile directory in order for Firefox to even try to load the flash plugin.
Now if I could just figure out how to get be the tab groups I had before this little exercise.
