why do i have to re enter log in info everytime i open firefox, it used to remember this
Everytime I close and reopen FF, i have to re enter log on info for all my sites. Like my yahoo homepage, or any of my mail programs. I check the boxes to keep me logged but it doesn't. This is getting real aggravating. This started when upgraded to FF 8.01

Websites remembering you and automatically log you on is stored in a cookie.
- Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode.
Do not use Clear Recent History to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.
I had done all the above before posting question. This just started about a week ago. I updated to FF 8.01 and can't figure out how to go back to earlier version.
If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete cookies.sqlite-journal and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
This sounds like the problem I had and Vivek.wilfred gave me a fix.
Go to TOOLS, OPTIONS, PRIVACY. Make sure that History is set to "use custom settings". Then go to SETTINGS and uncheck cookies and active logins.
Mine my.yahoo id and password get saved so sign in is automatic.
