I belong to a graphic site dreamies.de and my images are disappearing from there since I right clicked on what I thought was set as desktop background. There was another entry under it that said block images from dreamies.de. That is the one that I clicked on by accident and no one knows how to reverse it. Does anyone here know how to reverse it? I was using firefox 3.6 beta 3 when this happened. I am now on firefox 12.

I already tried right-click the page, choose View Page Info, then click Permissions. The first item is the site-specific permission for images and you should be able to reset back to the default here. This did not work.

I also tried right-click View Page Info and click Media. Click the first image on the list and observe the Block Images checkbox above the preview at the bottom. Arrow down the list until you come to a site that is blocked and unblock it. There was no unblock just a delete, so I deleted it. This did not work either.

I know it is a firefox issue because the images are all there when I log in using Internet explorer, but on firefox there are many of my images missing.

Chosen solution

Firefox 3.6.x versions have a "Block images from ..." item in the right-click context menu of an image, so it is quite possible that you have chosen that item instead of the choice to set the image as desktop background.

You can remove all items in the image exceptions if there are any:

  • Tools > Options > Content : Load images automatically: Exceptions

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.

  • Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
  • Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
  • Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
  • Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).

If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.images pref should be 1.

There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.

I tried them all already and they didn't work.

(Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.images pref should be 1. ) There is no number 1 there.

In case there is a bad interaction between Firefox's zoom feature and the site layout, can you try different zoom levels? To reset zoom to its default, you can use Ctrl+0 (that's a zero) or

View menu > Zoom > Reset

(When you are using the orange Firefox button (short menus), you can tap the Alt key or press F10 to display the classic menu bar to use the old View menu.)

You can zoom larger and smaller by holding the Ctrl key and rolling the mouse wheel, or using the keyboard as described in this article: Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages.

Did you check the image exceptions?

It is possible that images are hosted on another domain, so best is to check for grayed images in Tools > Page Info > Media while that page is on display to see if images from some domains are blocked.

Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.

This is the question that I need an answer to:

Why is it saying resolved when it's not?

You have two threads going. This one does not say Solved anywhere that I can see.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

1. Clear Firefox's Cache

orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"

2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here

While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

Then try reloading the page -- there's a good chance you will need to log in again. Does that help?

The site seems to host images on a lot of imgXX sub domains: imgXX.dreamies.de

Were that any of the image links grayed in Tools > Page Info > Media?

Did you check that extensions aren't blocking images?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I cleared the cache and cookies. That didn't work either. Since it happened when I was on firefox 3.6 beta 3 and I am on firefox 12 now, would that be part of the problem not being able to fix it? The block images from dreamies.de is not on the right click any more since I switched to firefox 12.

There are no links that are grayed in Media.

Yes cor-el, that is exactly what I did. I clicked it by accident and that's when my images started disappearing. Thank you, that worked. All of my images are back again.

You're welcome.

There are a lot of servers used to store the images, so you would only have seen a blocked image if you had the same website on display.

more options

It could be that the image I clicked on was stored on one of their other storage sites.
