This also happens with google mail

I get a random wall of characters like this: http://i.imgur.com/yxngT.jpg

My other pc has no problems, I have tried clearing the cache and cookies. I have also tried re-installing. Safemode has also been tried

Chosen solution

You can check the network.http.* prefs on the about:config page and reset all bold user set network.http prefs to the default value via the right-click context menu -> Reset.

Check at least:

  • network.http.proxy.keep-alive should be true
  • network.http.accept-encoding: gzip,deflate

It seems to fix the random pages. But not I cannot log into my gmails because of cookies. I have turned cookies on and im still getting the ploblem. And everytime I close firefox I have to go into the about:config again.

That is fixed now thank you, What about the cookies though. I cannot log into gmail without them. And twitter goes slow. I have them enabled though.

Did you check that you aren't blocking cookies?

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
