After i get the default Google screen, there is approx 15 second delay till i get actual control. I get no "blinking" in the Enter box. Secondly, practically my entire screen now gets filled up.

Hi melvinxx1,

does this problem occur only during cold (first) start of Firefox or does it happen every time you request your home page?

Are all the plugins up to date? http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

Does this problem occur in safe-mode? In order to start FF in safe-mode hold shift during the start.

Regards,

jm

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
