I downloaded Java but it doesn't show up in my list of Plugins or Extensions

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both java and firefox, but still cannot get java to show up in my list of plugins or extensions. I installed JRE 7 update 11. Java Development Toolkit does show on my plugins list. I'm running Windows 7

There is a Java 7 Update 12 pending to address issues regarding missing registry keys.
