I missed the shift key and hit several keys in the bottom LH corner of my keyboard. Firefox split into several iterations and I had to reload.
I missed the shift key and hit several keys in the bottom left hand corner of my keyboard. Firefox lost the tab I was was using and split into a separate iteration for each of the others (plus two I had closed). I couldn't get it back and had to close all but one of them and reconstruct all my tabs.
What had I done and how should I have recovered?

First, you need to update to Firefox 18.0.1 Update Firefox to the latest release. The version you are on is buggy and insecure.
Second, it sounds like you may have entered tab groups. Use Tab Groups to organize a lot of tabs does that look familiar?

Thanks for your quick reply Tylerdowner,
It's very likely I did hit Ctrl/Shift and E instead of Shift/E. I can't remember which letter I was going for because of the shock when it all fell apart. I'm sure the first conversational computer I worked on (System Ten!) must have had a different keyboard layout because I'm always pressing Caps Lock instead of Shift on these new-fangled ones.
I didn't realise how out of date I was on Firefox 12 and have already downloaded Firefox 18 ready to upgrade.
Thanks again, Paul
