What part of realplayer is missing, if its the download you can try other addons like it.
realplayer is not missing, it just no longer works, this happens at every single update. I spend hours trying to fix it.
I downloaded 2 of the add ons for downloading videos and I can not get them to work.
I do not use the update channel any more. Every time I update Firefox, my plug-ins or add-ons stop working, case in point, download helper. I hate this. I hate updates, they make the problems worse. I have no proof that a newer version of Firefox is lesser of a security risk. Malware bytes has consistently reported no viruses or problems every time, scan after scan. So, after i updated to Firefox 21 and had problems, I uninstalled it completely from my system, ran a registry sweeper/cleaner, then rolled back to Firefox 18.0 and reinstalled my download helper. Now it's working perfectly like before. IF IT'S NOT BROKEN, MOZILLA, DON'T FIX IT.
If Mozilla did not have a checkbox that allowed me to uncheck "check for updates" then I would instantly switch back to Internet Explorer or upgrade to Chrome. If Mozilla keeps this up, they're going to lose another user. I had to register here just so I could tell you this. (Under Tools command, options, Update tab, I check "Never check for updates" and they put that stupid tagline "security risk." Well I'm calling BS on that one, because as I've said, the updates ARE the problem. You can't tell me that after "n" number of updates up to and including version 18--grandfathering in all the security fixes and patches or what have you--that Firefox is still vulnerable! If that is the case, then I'll wipe all trace of it off my system.)
Firefox 18 is working fine, and I do not plan to update. Ever. I do not fix something that is already working, and my security programs will take care of any problems. If I had to, I would roll back to Firefox 14, because I kept a copy of that, just in case. I already bought into the updates ever since version 1.0, and I've learned a lot since then about the whole "updating" thing.
I no longer believe in updates. I have Windows Vista SP-1 and did not install (notice I did not use the word "upgrade") to SP-2 because it created more problems than it solved, according to thousands of users in dozens of forums, just like updating Firefox did (that is, installing a newer version). I wish programmers had the ability to grasp the concept to leave well-enough alone!
Any more trouble from Firefox, my mind is already made up: I'll switch to Google Chrome and ban all Mozilla products forever. Programmers, tech support, and managers take note: I'm not kidding! I will not hesitate. Not for a second.
