when I click to download a mp3 file on my mac, it just runs it, won't download it

hmm try changing the application used for mp3s to "Download"

Set firefox to download mp3s instead of the quicktime plugin.
I tried that. no luck.
reset firefox prefs
and delete a possible user.js file
