I've been having problems with Feedly.com and Pandora.com loading since automatically updating to FF 23. Just clearing the cache and cookies for these sites will NOT work. I constantly have to restart FF, which is very annoying and frustrating. Also I am unable to sign into Mozilla Persona now. I either get a pop window with a message saying that cookies are disabled, however, when checking under Options-->Privacy, they are ENABLED, nor is Persona.org listed under Exceptions. Clearing the cache, cookies for Persona, and restarting FF will NOT help.

I have been a user of FF since FF3 and NEVER had any problems with previous updates. I am very disappointed in your latest release. It seems to me that this was a rush job.

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Thank you.

I have tried Safe Mode and the problem still persists so it can't possibly be any of my extensions or personas. Also all my plugins and extensions are upto date. I'm using Win 8 which is also upto date as well so I do believe that it's FF itself that's the problem.

Hello Chesshur,

did you try to delete the cookies.sqlite file and any cookies.sqlite-journal files in firefox profile folder, in the case cookies files are corrupted ?

to open the profile folder go from Firefox button > Help menu > Troubleshooting Information > Under the Application Basics section click on Show Folder.

see for more info : Remove corrupt cookies file

thank you

Ok, deleting the cookies.sqlite file worked for Persona, but I still had to restart FF to get Feedly and Pandora to load. Thanks everyone for your help.

I just noticed that Personas Rotator does not register that I signed in unless I restart FF otherwise the current Persona stays displayed even though rotation is enabled. This probably had been going on at the same time as my other problems so I don't think deleting the cookies file had anything to do with it.

Move the places.sqlite file to another folder, it may seem nothing related, but a corrupt places.sqlite makes firefox slow as molasses.

Thanks Waka. It turns out I had TWO places.sqlite.corrupt files. I tried removing the places.sqlite and renaming the corrupt files as per Mozilla's instructions, but that only generated another places.sqlite.corrupt file. I wound up resetting FF and reinstall everything. Now it works just fine. Mozilla Persona however has issues with Ebookoid.com so I can't sign in using Persona. I can however, sign into Persona's website. I'm just going to ignore that for now since I can login to Ebookoid using my Google account.
