When multiple tabs are open, Firefox begins to reload pages over and over about once every second. Neither safe mode nor resinstalling helps.

This does not occur on every site. For example, multiple tabs open on the Mozilla site does not cause this error. I have experienced this problem on numerous other sites This error also does not occur if I have two or fewer tabs open. I have been using Firefox for years and have not previously had this problem until this week. I have not made any changes to my system during this period that would affect the issue.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
