Why doesn't Twitter's website work properly; e.g., the settings dropdown?

more options

Many of the links on Twitter's website don't work in Firefox for Mac OS. For example, the "gear" icon at the top of the page won't produce a dropdown menu so that I can sign out. Instead, clicking on it sometimes produces the basic account settings, but nothing else. The "Compose New Tweet" button does nothing.

I have given Twitter permission to do anything and everything under "about:permissions". I've deleted all the Twitter cookies on the possibility that one of them was corrupted. I can log into the twitter site and see others' tweets.

I'm running the most recent versions of the Mac operating system and of Firefox and am not experiencing problems with any other sites that I visit.

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Thank you. The fact that it was only one website with which I was having problems had led me to discount the possibility that a reset would address the problem, but that did solve the problem.
