The old download window helped me to see my video through Ant video downloader while downloading side by side at the same time, thus enabling me to cancel it if found unsuitable after a few minutes. Even I could open the folder to view few bites which were downloaded.

Chosen solution

Well, I ended up installing FF ESR, and I've got the old behaviour back.

I backed up my current install, then just installed the ESR over my current one. (make sure the folder the installer points to is the same as where FF is already installed) No problem at all - bookmarks, settings, and add-ons were all still there. Piece of cake.

I'm currently on FF ESR 24.3

Firefox manages downloads in the Downloads folder in the Library (History > Show All History)

  • Downloads are treated as history items: clearing history removes included download items and vice verse.
  • When downloads are in progress you see an animated download button on the Navigation Toolbar showing an estimate of the remaining time
  • The Download button gets a green highlight once all download are finished to make you aware that new downloads are available.
  • Pause and Resume can be found in the right-click context menu of an item.

You can display the new Downloads Manager in a tab by opening the about:downloads page and you can consider to open this page in a separate window.

Do you have the download arrow on your toolbar? You can use that to cancel a download in progress without needing to open a separate window.

The support article on managing downloads shows how the arrow works, and if you removed it from your toolbar at some point finding it not to be useful, you can restore it using the Customize feature.

As suggested, I have installed add-on of download window for firefox v 26 but it has not solved my problem. This addon is not a correct feature .Downloading through this addon any video does not show on the playlist of Ant video player from the very beginning to enable you to keep it or cancel it, similar in the containg folder. I cannot view it till it is fully downloaded.

Hmmm now i understood, you want a something like preview of the video download, sorry but i found a manager(not a firefox addon) that do this: http://www.speedbit.com/dap/features/download-video-preview/

If you prefer the old download manager, the best solution that I've come across thus far is to subscribe to the esr (extended support release) versions of firefox.

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all.html

Using this version (24.2.0) will allow you access to security updates as they are published and should preserve the old download manager that previously worked for you.

why don't you listen instead of being a broken record? listen broken record guy: why did you make the download window stupid? why is it so hard to break at you imply? should it break so easily from other addons? fyi i have a minamal amount of addons, and they are all 4-5 star common addons, should the download feature conform to them, yes it should. Finally: THERE IS NO PAUSE FUNCTION, JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN RIGHT CLICK DOESN'T MEAN IT WORKS OR FUNCTIONS. Get it through your head: IT DOES NOT WORK. Can I call you an idiot please?

I even tried a download status bar addon that said it could give pause control but pausing merely cancels, another indication there is no pause function or was programmed wrong. And why the hell is it even in the right click menu, what idiot took the button away and download speed indicator? Why did THAT IDIOT think it was a clever upgrade? It's as stupid as evolutionists claiming that a creature losing features was an evolutionary improvement. I bet the guy who ruined the download window and made it moronic was an atheist.

that doesn't restore the pause function or speed indicator bone head

overly complicated. developers, restore the old downloads window please, it was dumb to ruin it the way you did. It looks snazzy, but who cares about snazz? Some things don't need changing. Leave the basics alone. People can always use addons or mess with the about:config if they want to make changes, duh!

The old download window behaviour should be brought back as an option. At the very least.

Waiting for that, or proper detailed instructions for downgrading FF. I can't consider this issue solved until one of those 2 criteria are met.

none of the above solutions is helpful.Firefox 26 developer has snached a very beautiful and important feature ,that is ,old download window. no solution has helped me to preview the video in ant video player or any player, concurantly with the download and to remove it after a few seconds if not liked.
