occasionally when I download a file the download estimator will not update until the file is pretty much downloaded and done. this did not happen in previous versions, i believe somewhere around v15? or whenever the new download manager was implemented.

another issue is that file size is unknown until mostly downloaded. ( a.k.a. "Calculating the time remaining - x MB of 103 MB (132 KB/sec)" ) does not matter what Internet connection I use, cannot repeat on a local network download. sometimes i do not get on really really really really really fast servers.

oh and don't forget about corrupt downloads! file will download like normal but be smaller than the total size that the website says or confirmation dialogue boxe list. download manager reports as finished! Ending up with a zip file or other file that will not open or run.

Chosen solution

No antivirus software I run clean, safe and vigilant.

I managed to get photos, have a look. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gu2yiffrazxpasc/xVaAEH4Kod

I use an extension to revert back the look, feel and function of the old download manager, but it's still not correct in the new download manager.

but as it was stated elsewhere, I will probably have to create a new profile so hopefully this will all go away when I eventually get around to that?

Kindly install the latest version of the firefox. Secondly, clear cache and cookies completely and then try the same. if the same problem occurs, reinstall firefox

I have 8 instances with different profiles all with the same problem. and I thought 26 was the latest version? ( at least it hasn't been a while for an update, probably get one tomorrow as they tend to be weekly.)

just got a notification well I was writing this.

Just updated, i will have to test downloading later when I'm not on a per byte usage data plan. ( previous versions = more stable )

To Pranay Moluguri

thank you, but....

  1. 1 Windows version.
  2. 2 also not from originating website/ distributor/ creator/ unknown origin / unknown intent.
  3. 3 we went over our data allowance last month by 2 GB on the 15 GB plan ( AT&T's $15 each extra a GB ) so I have to play it extra careful this month on downloads, and use a Wi-Fi hotspot at a place I will be at later.

after all that's how I avoided getting one of the few Mac viruses, 4? years go. and no antivirus at that! and don't worry I'm an equal operating system "fan boy" (promoter), I did the same thing on my XP system. they were both a bucket full of one crazy pop up/ad.

Do you have any anti-virus software installed that might be interfering with downloading files?
