I can't restore the default set of message pane buttons when I try to customize.

I am using Thunderbird 24.4.0 on a MacBook Mountain Lion. I have three email accounts - about to drop one having changed provider. Each account has different message pane buttons, not by intention, none have the full set, and the full set cannot be restored by right-clicking to customize and selecting 'restore default set'. Thanks. Tanya

Followed that idea myself and disabled the Gmail Buttons add-on and now have all the buttons back. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Do you have the Compact Header add-on installed? It offers additional Message Pane buttons, although I don't know how they can be different for different accounts. If disabling that add-on, if present, doesn't allow you to restore the default set, try starting in safe mode (hold Option when you launch TB), check "Reset toolbars and controls" and click "Make changes and restart":

I don't have Compact Header and I've tried the safe mode restart without any change - still can't get the default set of message pane buttons. It did cross my mind while checking my add-ons that it might be a configuration associated with Gmail Buttons as two of my three accounts are gmail. Does that sound possible?
