I would like to open my in box and quickly find specific e-mails. I would like these specific e-mails marked in red.

there must be some where in thunder bird configuration where I can select these important e- mails to be marked in red.

You can set-up a filter to tag your important messages accordingly. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Filters_(Thunderbird)
