Right click on Junk folder select 'Empty Junk'

To completely remove all 'marked as deleted emails and gain some file space. Right click on Junk folder and select 'compact'. You can do this each time you empty the junk or every so often. Just because you cannot see any emails in the Junk folder, it does not mean the folder is totally empty, as marked as deleted' emails will still be in the folder (this applies to any folder) See info on compacting - what it does and why it is important:

You can also set up Junk to get auto emptied. Tools > Account Settings > Junk Settings for the mail account. or right click on mail account and select 'Settings' then select 'Junk Settings' for the mail account.

At the bottom - you might need to scroll down' select : Automatically delet junk older than xx days' click on OK to save settings.

Other methods: select Junk folder to see emails. Edit > Select > All or use keyboard shortcur 'Ctrl'+'A' or select first email, hold down 'Shift' key and select last email. All emails become highlighted and shown as 'conversations' in the lower message pane. There will be two buttons 'Archive' and 'Delete'.

Other method: Select junk folder to see emails

As you have selected the Junk folder where all mail ideally should be marked as Junk, then it will delete all of them. If you have emails that are in the Junk but not marked as Junk, then you would need to mark them as Junk first if using this method.

Tools > select 'Delete mail marked as junk in folder'

Located an Addon which may work for you. In the Thunderbird section it mentions a 'Delete Junk' button.

I've not tried this addon, so cannot comment.

Please remember that any addon needs to be maintained by the author to keep working with any updates in Thunderbird. Any problems with this addon are the responsiblity of the author, not Thunderbird. Download addon to desktop or downloads folder.

To install: Tools > Add-ons clickon gear wheel icon and select 'Install addon from file' locate the file you downloaded and click on 'Open'. You may need to restart Thunderbird.
