I have been using McAfee Total Protection, including McAfee Site Advisor, for a number of years and during that time it had always worked OK alongside Firefox. I have updated my McAfee subscription this week and I am now receiving a message from Firefox saying it has disabled McAfee Site Advisor. I have been in contact with McAfee who have checked Site Advisor and say it is working OK and have told me to contact Firefox. Site Advisor is working OK on Windows Explorer and Google Chrome. Firefox is my preferred browser but as it has disabled Site Advisor I am now very wary of using it because of the security risk. Can anyone help?

Is yours still called SiteAdvisor?

Last year they updated it to McAfee WebAdvisor:

http://home.mcafee.com/root/landingpage.aspx?lpname=get-it-now

That add-on was signed as of December 2015 according to this support thread: Unsigned WebAdvisor won't be allowed in Firefox... | McAfee Communities.

It may be that the old SiteAdvisor isn't going to be submitted for signature at this point. Any reason not to switch to WebAdvisor?

Hi York1e,

Does Firefox tell you it disabled Site Advisor because the add-on is unsigned? What message do you get?

Hi BelFox Yes, "McAfee Site Adviser could not be verifed for use in Firefox and has been disabled" McAfee checked and said everything was ok at their end and that I would need to contact Firefox to get the problem resolved
