Why is Oauth2 not an option for either pop or imap gmail server settings but ok for SMPT.
In TB account settings Oauth2 is not an available option for gmail's pop3 server or imap server names. It is available for the outgoing google's outgoing gmail servers. This forces me to use the "Allow less secure apps: ON" setting in the gmail account settings. I would like to be able to turn that setting off. In reading other answers using the IMAP setting seems to solve the problem TB setting do not give me the option.

Google do not offer oAuth2.0 for POP mail accounts. It is as simple at that really. We hide to option to reduce confusion.

Matt, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, it does not help. As per my question, I am not seeing the option when I try to use a gmail imap server. So I am still left with the problem. I am probably doing something wrong but I am not aware of my error. Any insight would be help full. Thanks again.

Please post a screenshot of your account settings. http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-c Please note that I tried port 993 but it produced error messages even with allow reduced security apps. Changing back to port 995 at lease allowed me to connect, but again with reduced security apps. I cannot get a screen shot with the authentication method drop down menu showing.

Look at your screenshot: Server Type: POP

Christ1, I was blind to the server type.. I could not change it so I went through and created a new IMAP account. It went smoothly and I could turn off the allow less secure apps. Thanks much for your help. I do appreciate it.
