Each attempt to view a video on a particular site I get this message," Video format or mime not supported". How do I fix this?
My system is windows XP. I recently upgraded to Firefox 50.1.0 ,new version. Since then, I have been unable to view any video on one of my favorite sites. It won't come up, only a message " Video format or mime not supported". It appears that this is the only site where the problem exists. Never had any video problems prior to this. I've tried a few suggestions but nothing worked. Can someone assist please?

How do I find out if it's KN or N version (it has media player) & if it's running in compatibility mode? I didn't change anything, only updated. It was working pre-update, now I can't watch video posts on Facebook (some play, some don't) & Youtube is going stupid & Dropbox too. I also use the VLC player.

This is a problem with the HTML5 media player. Since you are on Windows XP you do not have native support for playing MP4 files, hence this error message.
I don't know if this still works:
I'm using W7 & get the same 'no supported MIME types found'. Just updated but getting error message that I'm still using old version. 'About FF' tells me I'm using 50.1.0. Very slow now too. No probs with previous version but new version won't even let me watch my fav TV shows. Can I restore old version because 50.1 won't let me watch scenes my Director has sent that need my approval before final edit? This is a very critical fault!
If you have a KN or N version of Windows 7 then that could explain why you cannot run HTML5 video player. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-video-audio-problems-firefox-windows
A easy way to check is at www.youtube.com as all should be blue checks.
Your useragent may have been changed for some reason. Also make sure Firefox is not being run in a Windows compatibility mode. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-reset-default-user-agent-firefox
