erase history and cookies from just one tab at a time
I used the add-on Close n Forget It for years. It closed the current tab and erased all cookies and history that related to that tab while leaving all the rest alone. Unfortunately Mozilla has now taken that away from me with version 54, and I can't find a replacement. I've tried Forget That Page, but while it claims it has deleted everything, when I check the history there's a list of the page every tab was on when I closed it, and I can't get rid of it without using the Forget button or closing the browser entirely in Private Browsing mode. That, of course, closes ALL the open pages, when I just want to close and clear out the one.
How can I close just one tab and erase the cookies and history from just that tab while leaving the others open? I'm finding I really miss that capability.

There's certainly no "one-click" way to do this built into Firefox. And it may take some time to find an equivalent extension.
Any idea why that extension stopped working? Is there a message in red text on the Add-ons page, Extensions list, indicating it has been blocked/disabled, or is it just broken?
The add-ons page says that "Close n forget is incompatible with 54.0.1", and disabled it. I saw something somewhere that Mozilla decided that the permissions Close n forget required? requested? were too open and disrespectful of the user's privacy. Sounds like there's a story there to me.
It did it on each computer when we allowed the latest update to Firefox. That's all I've got.
It would be an awfully handy feature just to have in the browser. My whole family used it, friends used it. Any help finding a replacement or a work-around would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry. Firefox 54.0.1.
You can consider to use the Firefox 52.2.1 ESR version.
