When I type in a new e-mail address, i.e. a e-mail not in my addressbook, then it turns red, and then I cannot send the e-mail. Is there a option to turn this 'red' option off, thank you very much.

Red font indicates the address is not in your address book so Thunderbird is working as designed. There is no on/off switch for this.

This normally does not prevent the message from being sent. What prevents you from sending?
