In the last month I have noticed that attachments to emails received are slow to open and most videos like You Tube open but won't play. I get the message "if video doesn't start try restarting your computer" I also have an email account through another provider and am not having the same problem with attachments.

As others have mentioned Thunderbird is slow to open but my desktop computer has also been slow opening other sites of late. Has anyone else noticed that on their computers lately ? Could it be recent updates to Thunderbird or Windows ? I am using Windows 7 pro 64.

The most common cause of a sluggish computer is your choice of anti virus. What are you using?

Note that historically at least, youtube used javascript in the message to display video. Thunderbird does not execute scripts. They are a serious security risk. I might just as easilyl be malware as a video a script downloads.

Using Avast Anti Virus and also have Malware Bytes Premium. Only recent change was my router from internet 300 to 600 with new Shaw's Advanced WiFi Modem (XB6). Everything was working good but recently there were a number of Thunderbird updates and I was wondering if that could be the problem. Incidentally the problem is not only You Tube it is any MP4 video and transfer to another site etc. I am also often getting Fire Fox not responding and Thunderbird not responding.
