Hello wdkwild,

That option was removed from Options some time ago.

You can now toggle a preference on the "about:config" page :

Type in the address bar about:config (press Enter) (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the search bar and look for the preference :

accessibility.blockautorefresh

its value needs to be set to false to turn it OFF

its value needs to be set to true to turn it ON

(after a value has been changed : close and restart Firefox)

Note that this is an accessibility feature (hence the name or the pref) and isn't meant to be used for security. It also only works for a few cases (redirect via meta tag) and not for a server redirect (location header). This was one of the reasons that it has been removed from the user interface.

So how to STOP redirect??? Have installed 2 add ons and still have problem

@wdkwild at this point in time this isn't a browser fault it's users going to sites that uses redirect that causes this and most likely overrides your addons. So don't blame firefox or mozilla for the redirect take that up with the site your going to. And redirects sites are "black sites" of which most knows what that means.

Is it a redirect that is part of the design of the website, or are you getting hijacked somewhere else completely? More details would be helpful in making a recommendation.

Hello again wdkwild,

Are you saying that you don't get redirected when you use Chrome ?

Have you tried to change the value of that preference on the "about:config" page ? (see my first post)

Like jscher2000 already mentioned : it might help if you could give us some details, like : is it just one particular site that gets redirected ? Any other information you could add  ? Maybe give us a link to the site(s) in question ?

(edit : typo)

I've tried multiple things to fix redirect including running Malwarebytes installing several add-ons to stop redirect and nothing works. All the Firefox instructions in settings do not work or are not there. The forms have apparently thousands of solutions and I haven't got time to wait through all those. Very confusing. Firefox does not offer any real help

What is redirecting from what to where? Can you give a very specific example or two of the problem?

Just wanted to let you know this is not always the case. For example what spurred me on to research this was I have started using FF because Chrome was taking too long to launch the program and load pages. I started getting redirects after the first couple of nights of using it and as a help desk tech by trade for some 25 years (appx) I know I only go to reputable sites and I don't have any kids to go to bad sites unless you count my 3 kitties looking at kitty pawn....LOL! The last straw was just a few minutes ago when I went to refresh my YT page to pick up some comment replies to something I posted and "BAM" it redirected me to a pathetic page looking to sell me the domain. (scumbags).

So, no not a "bad site" thing....just my opinion and experience.
