I did the FireFox "Refresh" thinking it will make my PC faster like it said. "One big mistake for me!" I am not a computer person and struggle with basic terminology. My screen now is totally different and I am at a loss............. How do I go back to the way it was before I ruined everything?

Thanks for the info, but it did not help. I have more or less reconstructed my opening page by hunting and pecking. Never will I ever do something as stupid (for me) like this again. All "refreshing" did was destroy my page and bring a lot of bull shit to it that I have absolutely no use for.

Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.{web link} I use an add-on that makes backups of my user profile, Just In Case. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with the current Firefox.

Every now and then, open the profile folder and create a copy of the current profile as is to another location on your hard drive. This way you will have a backup.

If you do this each day, you will not lose much data. This should be done with Firefox Closed.

Note: In case you need to restore from these backups, you may need to overwrite old or corrupted files.

Thank you for the info. I have found a profile very much like my original one. How do I Save it permanently? I lost it a few minutes ago and then accidentally recovered it. Now I do not know how it keep it and I am afraid to close it by turning off my PC.

Well, I lost it again. How do I find an old profile? I keep going to: about:profiles and cannot find the old one that had all my old info. Am I screwed?!?

Hi rbarkleyiii, let's start again.

When you use Refresh, your profile folder is moved to your desktop inside a folder named Old Firefox Data -- did you find that folder?

Don't move any folders.

I was able to find an old profile page with most of the info I wanted to keep. And I was able to keep it as the page I wanted. Thank you FredMcD and jscher2000. I am computer illiterate and proud to say that I am that way. It does cause problems like this situation that I have recently created for myself. However, I take to heart the book "1984". All the realities of the book are becoming true day by day with the help of the internet and computers. Again, thanks you guys.
