I'm a grad student and get hundreds of emails on any given day. I'm creating hundreds of filters, but on top of that, I'd like the option of a notification when my advisor sends an email. Or someone else important. In Outlook, for example, you can set filters with a sound and a notification popup when a new message arrives from person X.

Unfortunately, in Thunderbird, I only get notifications of "new" emails, which is relatively useless, since I get new email every day, a lot of which is redundant or spam. The important emails get buried in the rest.

Are there any add-ons or options you could suggest that could help better manage notifications of email?

Thanks very much.

The Mailbox Alert add-on might help, as it can set sound alerts per folder, in TB 68.

FiltaQuilla can launch files (audio, video etc.) as a filter action:
