Unable to set up pop3 account in new TB app
I downloaded TB yesterday to my iMac, OS 12.2.1 and I am unable to set up my earthlink.net pop3 account. I've tried both the automatic setup and the manual setup and I've checked the port # on earthlink.net to be sure it's correct. I keep getting the following error message: "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account."
What to do?
TIA, Beth

Hi David. Thanks for responding!! I don't think it was an Earthlink problem but it's now sorted ...
On one of my many re-reads of my account settings, I noticed that next to the Earthlink-designated port for Pop, there was a different port number suggested (I assume by Thunderbird). I entered it and everything worked!
I then added a second account, using that port number and everything worked there as well.

Followup: I went to my Inbox and it appears that the account is set up but when I click on 'get messages' the following error pops up: "The account bethrosengard@earthlink.net is being processed. Please wait until processing is complete to get messages."
There is no progress bar so if that message is even legit, how do I know when the processing is complete :-/

Nice to know I can count on this forum for support ... not!
I regret the lack of response. Generally, the more info you share on first post causes responses. I was just about to propose asking you to show screenshot of settings, but that is no longer needed. You were getting the error because the account was not being found. It seems now that you're waiting for Earthlink to finish configuring your email. I suggest contacting them. Then, if there are future issues that you post, I will get an email to alert me to assist.

Thanks for sharing the good news. And I hope you'll get a better response, should you ever post a question here again. Regards, david
