Is your old Firefox data available? Did you ever use sync?

I have not other devices to sync to. I tried it, it led me nowhere. I have a laptop, that's it. I don't carry a cellphone or any other type of device.
As far as I can tell my old firefox data is not longer available. I am not up on the use of the terminal in Unbuntu so I don't really know how to look.
What was your process for updating the OS? Did just go through an update process or did you format partitions before the install?
Which Firefox version are you currently using ? Is that the Snap version as that version uses a different location for the profile folder ?
You can check that on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page.

I just went through the update process on line. When I rebooted my wallpaper and desktop config had all changed. When I opened Mozilla it was totally different, no bookmarks, no passwords. I didn't think to copy everything. I do have some of my passwords but man, what a pain.
