I have Thunderbird set up so that it doesn't automatically show remote content in messages. When I try to view a message that has remote images in it, Thunderbird shows a yellow stripe that says, "To protect your privacy, Thunderbird has blocked remote content in this message," and there is a gray button that says "Options." When I click on the gray button and select "Show remote content in this message," that used to make the images load. But now Thunderbird just shows placeholders instead of the images, and the alt text that describes the images. Also, the yellow stripe and gray button disappear once I make a selection, so I can't try selecting something else.

I am running the latest version of Thunderbird, version 91.11.0 (64-bit) on Windows 10.

I think this is a bug that probably started when I upgraded to a newer version of Thunderbird.

Thanks for any help with this!

Chosen solution

First, the current version is 102, not 91. Before upgrading, shut down Thunderbird, and do a full backup of profile. The newer version may address your issue.

Hey cool, that fixed it!

My copy of Thunderbird said that it was up to date, so I didn't know to upgrade. It wasn't offering an upgrade button, so I had to go to the Thunderbird website and download the latest version. But that installed easily, and fixed the problem.

Thank you David!!
