Sync outlook office 365 email to Thunderbird
Hello,
I use BT in the UK to host my email and website They in turn use Microsoft office 365 outlook to hold my emails It has worked fine with Thunderbird for many years until the end of October 22
You cannot login with POP3, SMTP or IMAP anymore because Microsoft wont support it
I found an addon called OWL which uses webmail to access account then downloads to Thunderbird
That will work on a windows 7 pc with Thunderbird but not on my preferred Linux Mint PC. It finds an old account of mine instead somehow!
Interestingly I cannot login to the microsoft outlook server using Firefox browser but it will if I use Google Chrome
Is this a collusion by Microsoft to stop me using Linux?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated
Chris

I think you may have incorrect, or incomplete, information. Microsoft does support IMAP. It may be that your account is being changed to OAUTH2 authorization.
Thanks David,
I am sure you are right
Oauth2 sounds familiar
They changed our login methods so thunderbird cannot access emails
I asked bt about it and they said I will have to use webmail from now on through my browser
For whatever reason I can only do that on my Linux pc using Google chrome
It's like Microsoft are blocking Mozilla
The Owl add-on in thunderbird seems to work on win7 pc to login and download with oauth2
If I can get it to work on Linux mint that will be great!
Other users are accessing Outlook with Thunderbird, so I don't think there is any blockage. Outlook accounts are going through a transition and communications from Microsoft appear to be incomplete. I've never used OWL, but I thought it was primarily for Exchange accounts - and even that is accessible via Thunderbird. Good luck.
