Thunderbird permanently deletes some gmail messages before I can even see them! How do I stop that?

more options

Thunderbird seems to pick some emails and identify them as toxic and permanently deletes them before I even get a chance to see them. Not in Spam, not in Trash, just completely gone. Gone from the gmail server as well. I have lost two very important emails this way and I need to stop it.

How often is this happening? Does Help > Troubleshoot Mode help?

It has happened twice that I know of. The problem is that if I am not right on my computer when the email arrives/is deleted, then I can't tell if it even happened. I have terminated use of Thunderbird due to this issue. Troubleshooting Mode didn't help.
