stubborn cached web content

I have 228 kb of cached web content that refuses to clear. Say there is 1.5 mb cached, and when I clear, the 228 kb is still there. It interferes with a web site I visit. Please help me get rid of this! Thanks in advance.

Hi

In what way is it interfering with a website that you visit?

It prevents an inner layer of a particular web site from being seen. The web site problem and the 228 kb that won't clear happened at the same time. The web site works fine with microsoft edge. The 228 kb doesn't cause any problems anywhere else. All I want to do is look at lawn chairs! LOL

Hi

What happens when you view that site?

Is there a link you can share so we can look into the matter further here?

My thinking is that the cache is not the issue, but something else is preventing that page being displayed correctly in Firefox.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox for a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox for this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be careful. If you have a password or other data for that domain that you do not want to lose, make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website, data for that website will be saved once again.

Hi Paul, cabelas.com/camp-chairs is one example, cabelas.com/spinning-rods is another example.

Hi Cor-el, what is a context menu? I have an application menu (3 bars) on right, click history, no show all history button. Same with settings, a history button but no show all history. In either location I don't have a view button. Right clicks at those above two places does nothing, only left clicks.

A context menu is the right-click menu.

Does the site work properly in a private window? I ask that because private windows use their own in-memory cache and don't use the files saved on disk.

What do you mean by an inner layer?

By the way, when I go through the home page and then the Camping menu, the URL for the Camp Chairs page is

https://www.cabelas.com/l/camp-chairs

Does that URL work any better for you?

Hi jscher2000, sorry, when I wrote down the links I didn't notice the /l/. I don't know a proper phrase for the actual camp chairs location. To me it is like going to a filing cabinet (main page), to a drawer (camping), to a folder (camp chairs). Being 100% self taught, it seems like layers. What is a private window? Where do I right-click to get the context menu? When I clear Firefox, cookies and site data end up 0 bytes, cached web content won't clear 228 kb. Every other site I visit works fine, and this one did, too, at one time. I always clear Firefox and dump the trash when I am done for the session. One time the clearing didn't end up 0 for cached web content like it had always done before. When I started up again and tried Cabela's, that is when things weren't right. It might just be a coincidence, but I am thinking that if I could get rid of that 228 kb things would be fine. Thank-you in advance.

On the camp chairs page, I first get a "Verify your age" overlay, then the pictures are missing unless I turn off Tracking Protection. To do that, click the shield icon at the left end of the address bar (next to the lock icon), and then click the slider switch to turn off protection. Firefox will reload the page to show its appearance with the extra scripts allowed.

A private window is a window that doesn't save local history. More info here: Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history.

Context menus differ based on what you right-click. The suggestion earlier was specific to history items.
