Neil, there may be a better way, but one option is to press ctrl+S to bring up the "Save As" dialogue box. The File name field should be auto-filled with the page title, which you can copy with the standard ctrl+C key combination.

Once the text has been copied, you can then press escape to dismiss the dialogue box.

You should be able to do this via the Page Info window (Ctrl+I), click in the title field and use Ctrl+A and Ctrl+C.

Perhaps a better way is to press ctrl+I to bring up the page information pop-up. The title of the page should appear in a field near the top, and can be copied from there.

In my Firefox, starting from a web page I can press ctrl+I, tab, then ctrl+C and the title is copied to the clipboard. Pressing escape then dismisses the page information pop-up.

EDIT I see that cor-el has already suggested using page information.
