FF is auto-refreshing a lot all of a sudden

All of a sudden, FF seems to be auto-refreshing websites most of the time. I have browser.cache.check_doc_frequency set to the default of 3 (and it still does it at 2). This is an annoying behavior, as it can cause loss of input in forms, cookies modified, etc.

Webpages seem to be loading a bit slower too.

This is only idle speculation,
but it appears MS Hotmail is causing problems with Firefox Beta, iirc related to their advertisements & some change they have made resulting in frequent refreshes.

That makes me wonder if your problems could be related to use of MS sites including possibly hotmail or MS live, I note you have IE Tab installed.

Yeah, but I rarely use IE Tab, and haven't been to any Hotmail or Live site in quite a while.

Have you tried the Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems ?
( That effectively ends up with the equivalent to a new install and should undo changes and allow Firefox to work as intended, whilst uncovering which changes or additions cause the problem)

Does even this site auto refresh whilst you are in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode?
Is it only certain sites that cause this problem ?

  • usual note: do not make changes on first dialogue window of Firefox Safe Mode
