I have Win XP, so the procedure may vary slightly because you have Win 7, but if you're intuitive, then it should be simple enough.

Anyway, what you need to do is to create new desktop shortcut. So right click the one which looks like a folder first of all and then go to Properties. Then click the Find Target button (this button may be called something else in Win 7) which will take you to the executable. Then delete the folder looking one.

Next, using the right mouse button, drag firefox.exe out of its menu and onto the desktop. When you let go of the right mouse button, you'll get a menu. Choose "Create shortcut here" and you should get a shortcut with the firefox logo.
