Firefox has been crashing multiple times a day since 03/05/2012 20:50 (this was the first crash for months). I have updated all my windows updates, updated plugins, tried opening in safe mode, tried closing any tabs that could be causing a problem, but it is still happening. I have also done virus scans, and McAfee isn't coming up with any problems there. Sometimes it says it's not responding, and then closes, at other times there is no warning, it just crashes. It has crashed so far 6 times in less than an hour today.

Hi VeniceLF,
Sorry you are having problems with crashes. As you have posted a Crash ID I guess you will have already read firefox crashes

I do not fully understand the crash report, (although I could get advice on it if necessary) but I will make two initial comments.

  • you are using TrusteerRaport, that is sometimes known to cause Firefox crashes
    • ensure you have the latest version
    • Try stopping Trusteer Rapport [1]
    • if necessary try temporarily uninstalling Trusteer Raport and try using firefox again.
    • (edit although Trusteer is NOT mentioned in the crashing thread still worth a try ruling it out)

If that fails please try

  • creating and using a new profile
  • if you still get crashes please paste a couple of recent crash IDs into your next message (If necessary I will obtain advice on the cause of the crashes)

Please post back with how you get on.

[1] Trusteer Rapport may be stopped if you have browser problems their support site (http://www.trusteer.com/support/en/solve-issue) says

If your browser is crashing or closes on its own and you also have Symantec Endpoint Protection installed, please visit this page. Otherwise, click here to learn how to contact support
If you cannot open your browser, stop Rapport by:
Windows: going to Start->All Programs->Trusteer Rapport->Stop Rapport.
Mac: going to System Preferences -> Other -> Rapport -> Stop Rapport

Thanks for your help, the problem was with Trusteer Rapport, though updating my drivers did help somewhat. Trusteer are still looking at the problem, as they don't know exactly what is causing it, but everything's good with rapport turned off! Thank you!
