Firefox keeps running import wizard on Mac OSX Lion and won't save ad-ons or history

I'm running the latest OSX 10.7.4 Lion on a 27" iMac. Every time I close/end my firefox session and attempt to open firefox again (say after logging out, shut down, restart computer, etc. ), Firefox will NOT remember any history, settings, add-ons, bookmarks, etc.

On top of that every single time (at least 100+ tests) I start a new session, the import wizard runs and ask me to import settings but I've already done that a million times.

Here are my specs:

OS: Mac OSX Lion 10.7.4 Model: iMac 27" Mid 2011

Browser Version: 13.0.1 Plugins/Add-ons: None *they never show up again after I quit*

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

I tried all of the above and none worked.

See attached screenshots

I made a new profile over and over again. I was prompted multiple times with that wizard set up.

3. I have no extensions or add ons installed. All the plugins are up to date

You get the import wizard on startup if the isn't a profiles.ini file and a default profile.

Do you see any file(s) in the designated location for the profile(s)?

You can try to delete the current profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new profile.

Tried both resources and no profiles exist

That looks like an impressive list of profiles that have been created recently.

Isn't there a profiles.ini file in the Firefox/Profiles folder that shows in the first screenshot?

  • /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles

Try to move the entire Firefox folder to the Trash to see if that helps to create and keep one default profile.

You may want to save some data if you are still able to locate useful data in one of the profiles.
