A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. https://fbstatic-a.akamaihd.net/rsrc.php/v2/yG/r/rEq55HRbeKE.js:64 This script pops up no matter what page I'm on every 15 - 20 mins. How do I fix it?

This is caused by Facebook. Make sure your plugins are up to date and reset Firefox to make sure this issue is gone;

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.

Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.

To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Thank you for your reply. I did the update thing and Reset Firefox thing and the problem continues to exist. That's why I came here for help. What do I do now? I have one Facebook Plugin - Facebook Video Calling Plugin and it comes up grey with a research label. I have two Facebook Extensions.

Have you tried Firefox in safe mode to see if any of your add-ons could be causing the problem? See below;

Try the Firefox Safe Mode to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or use the Help menu item and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode" To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again. If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

I am so " not " a tech person but I will try my best and let you know what happens. All this stuff is foreign language to me.

So choosing to go the simplest way first I disabled the 1 FB plugin I had and the script warning popped back up within 10 mins. Then I disabled the Facebook Toolbar 1.8.2 that is a FB Extension and restarted the browser. There was an immediate difference in the way browser is now working. It got considerably speedier and responsive. I think that FB Ext. may have been the problem.

It has now been an hour and the browser is working the fastest it has ever worked over the past couple months. The script warning has not popped up yet. I can't believe how responsive the browser is now.

I will update you if this changes in any way.

3 websites gave me this message:- "A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete." I chose to stop the script each time. However I can't open any website in Firefox anymore. I just get blank pages. What do I do now?

I also had the same problem; specifically at my hotmail/outlook page. Couldn't even open e-mails bc of this continual pop-up window. It kept coming up so often; then I couldn't even close hotmail !

Meanwhile, I don't have extra toolbars either. Guessing, I rid of an app I'd added called safe monitor ( safemonitorapp.com ). The glitch has ceased.

In addition, uninstalling plugins had not rid of the problem prior.

This happens to me more on Facebook but it's also happened on a couple other sites (unfortunately I don't remember which ones). I have no FB plug ins or extensions.

If I have not added any plug-ins or extensions recently so why should I have to get rid of any? What this seems to be is that the people who create updates for Firefox keep making it more and more unstable and work with fewer plug ins. Leave it alone! It was working a year ago, now every update I have problems!

Okay, got that out of my system. Now: The only outdated plug-ins I have are google earth and adobe acrobat. Google earth I don't even use so I will disable it or delete it until I need it again and Acrobat I am constantly updating so will update again I guess. But I doubt this is the cause of the problem.

I am curious - on that Plugin Status page you directed us to, why does it list Picasa and Google Update as "Uknown"?? Really??? Why does it also list stuff like iTunes. Amazon downloader, Windows Framework, Nero, etc etc very well known and important plugins as "unknown"?
