In a website that I belong to that has chat functions....I occasionally notice that a random word or poster's name is sometimes highlighted in a dark blue color. When my cursor goes over that word/name, I get a Spam popup...or sometimes a direct link to some Spam. I called the administrator of the website and no one else is experiencing this problem. I tried opening the website in Chrome and in IE and I could not duplicate the problem...it appears to only occur in Firefox.

There are other things that need your attention.

Your system details list shows that you have two Flash plugins.
You should remove the older Flash 11.3 plugin.

  1. Shockwave Flash 11.6 r602
  2. Shockwave Flash 11.3 r300

See "Manually uninstalling a plugin":

Have you tried disabling the Start Now Toolbar extension to see whether that makes any difference?

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

I disabled the older shockwave add-on and reset Firefox and that seems to have solved the problem. Thanks
