When I attempt to install Firefox, my installation window disappears completely.
I click run after I have clicked on the installation file I downloaded. I had to choose to run the program with the current user or another. I have no other user on this computer so I went with the current user. After I hit next the window disappears completely and will not re-appear again. I have to go through the whole process again up to that point where I have to select a user, then it disappears again. I had to check and make sure it wasn't because of my Windows 8 and tried it again. I still got the same results.

Try this instead:
- Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html - Start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon
You may have to run the Firefox installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator) to make it possible to install the Mozilla Maintenance service that allows updating in the background.
