Shockwave keeps crashing regardless of fixes
Shockwave continues to crash, regardless of whatever fixes are applied. FWIW, I'm having the same luck when using WaterFox. I have tried every fix posted in the last 2 weeks (short of a total reinstall of FF) with no luck. Very frustrating to say the least. Thanks!
Here is may crash log:

Are you using something called;
Flash Process Dump Sandbox?
What I want you to do now is open the add-on manager, select plugins, and for ALL of them, set them on Ask. Then restart. Do not worry if pages don't show properly. Do NOT enable anything. All we want to know if Firefox still crashes. From all the reports, It has something to do do with flash.
Done. I'll leave the computer running tonight and see if there are any crashes come morning. I appreciate the advice!
gatorgrabber,
I'm gonna step in here to provide some information about questions you asked that weren't answered and general information regarding Crash Reports.
First thing to keep in mind is that the Crash Reports system doesn't exist to help users to fix their problems, it is in place the help Mozilla improve Firefox. Fortunately Mozilla has it open for "us" to view the Crash Reports and to try to interpret what they mean. For the most part it isn't an "exact science" and unless something is an obvious problem the nest we can do is a a SWAG (scientific wild-asses guess) as to the cause. IOW, the "most likely" cause.
As far as Crash Reports ID #s like this: a1ee0676-b486-4a0c-8d19-7c77bea41c44 7/3/2014 10:39 AM
I don't think that the Crash Reports without the BP- prefix have been submitted (when I hover over the lines without BP- in about:crashes I recall seeing .../about/throttling in the statusbar), either due to "throttling" of the Report receiving servers or reasons inside your Firefox installation. The former has become a big thing due to problems related to the Flash Plugin. It keeps the report servers from being overloaded and helps keep the Mozilla developers and crash report persons from getting overwhelmed with data to try to view.
Users can submit Reports that don't have the BP- prefix by clicking on it. If you double-click on a report like that, not only will that report be submitted but you'll be taken to the crash-stats page for that particular report. Just wait up to 5 minutes for the report to be uploaded and then displayed in Firefox for you. But that must be done in the browser that you are viewing about:crashes in; doesn't work from elsewhere.
As far as this Crash Reports of yours. https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/b3b9fc66-b6f1-4375-9fd8-fdf152140629 Underneath Date Processed if the Crash Reporting system can readily identify the external process that caused that crash it will appear right below Data Processed. Process Type = plugin Shockwave Flash Version:14.0.0.125 Filename:NPSWF32_14_0_0_125.dll That tells you (or anyone) the process that caused the crash. Those are the easy crashes to "read", fixing it is a lot harder.
I can't help you beyond this with Flash problems or troubleshooting, I am running WinXP and still using an old Flash 10.3 r 183 version which was kept updated by Adobe for WinXP users until Microsoft E-O-L'd WinXP this past spring. The main new feature than came in Flash 11 was the their own "plugin-container" which is only for Windows Vista and newer.
Typically, I never update plugins when an upgrade or new version is first released, I typically wait until I see here in this forum what problems other Firefox users may be having before updating a plugin.

I do appreciate any and all help with this. My intention is to provide as much info as I can to (possibly) help support this browser platform. I've been a FF fan since day 1 and will continue to use it moving forward.
When I resumed use of the computer this morning I was greeted with another crash, this time of the entire browser (not just Shockwave). Here is the report:

I'm inclined to uninstall Flash and proceed on without it as I work today. Based upon my recent history, if it doesn't crash, Flash is the rat in the woodpile. Perhaps an older version? I agree with 'the-edmeister' about being wary of new-and-improved updates; my mistake was letting flash auto-update recently...a mistake that has now been fixed.
I found this link in the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} Video WithOut Flash
I do not know this add-on so you must decide for yourself.
Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder Linux:
- Ubuntu Unity {web link}
- Xfce: Applications Menu category sections
- options depends on the package manager and the desktop environment
Go thru the list and remove ALL flash type programs. Then reboot. .
I've been running ALL HTML5 since this morning (with Flash disabled) and all has been fine. I'm thinking it's kind of obvious where the problem lies...and it's not with FF. I'll keep you posted on how this progresses. Thanks!
Well, I thought I had it fixed...

I updated to the latest Shockwave (14.0.0.145) and all seemed okay until yesterday. I've had Flash set to request request permission for use with no drama. After no issues, I started to allow use (without request) on several sites; that's when the problem started again. How does one access this request list so that I can undo sites I allowed? I'm searching but still haven't found the list. I'm just assuming this is the issue, so I could be far off base.
Thanks

I haven't seen a reference in this thread to disabling the Flash Player plugin's protected mode feature. You may want to try that.
This involves creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different ways to do that:
- Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?
- Batch file to automate the manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/982093#answer-518078
Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.
Problem still exists, even in Waterfox and Aurora. Rather frustrating to say the least. I haven't been pursuing the problem since Chrome doesn't have the issue and I haven't had much time to address the problem. Even running Aurora in its' freshly installed state, with no add-ons enabled, it still crashed after about an hour. After trying several different configs (to no avail), here's the latest crash report form Aurora:

Any suggestions? Even uninstalled/ rebooted/ reinstalled fresh copy of Flash...no luck. I've taken to calling it 'Crash' for the time being...

Yep, afraid so. You've been very helpful in the past so I figured I'd keep this discussion up to date for others searching.

Is there a way I can save my FireFox data, uninstall FF and Flash, scrub the registry for all traces of the programs, then follow with a fresh install of all? The time I've spent messing with this is substantial. Thanks.
Not mentioned thus far in this thread. Mozilla is working on an HTML5 renderer for Adobe Flash built entirely in Web Standards (JavaScript, WebGL, and others) project that will make Flash unnecessary for Firefox users. It's called Shumway.
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Projects/Shumway
Under The whats and whys of Shumway there's a link to a Shumway extension that users can install to try out Shumway in Firefox 24+ versions. Unlike plugins such as Flash and Java, Shumway installs to the users Profile - not globally to all Profiles or all Firefox installations. You can install it in one Profile to see how well it works and keep Flash activated in other Profiles to use when Shumway may not work.
I installed Shumway within the past week and haven't come across anywhere it wouldn't work, yet; but I don't view a lot of video clips.
Thanks, I'll look into that!
These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox
FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.

Hi gatorgrabber, you wrote:

Did you disable the plugin's protected mode feature? You can confirm it is disabled when NO Flash processes appear in the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc > Processes tab) when using Flash in Firefox -- they are all run inside plugin-container.exe.
