new message addressees disappear without intervention

When composing a new message the list of addressees progressively disappears. I can only stop this by individually adjusting each outgoing message to reveal all the addressees. Is there a quicker less time consuming way to do this please. Which part of settings or preferences might do this for me? Thanks.

The stages I use are pretty simple - select write - enter a key word for address - choose addressee - click to enter. So far so good. Next address on next line - same process but when I enter the selected address the whole list has moved up and out of sight. Of course it is easy to move the slider to bring it down again but it is very tiresome. It is undoubtedly a very simple bit of finger trouble but I do - apparently - need help to know which finger I can use to adjust settings so that this does not happen. Is there any way I can send you a picture or is this enough.
