Windows reboots while using Firefox or Tbird, sometime corrupting passwords file.
I don't know if my problem is Mozilla or something else, but the computer crashes (screen goes black and Windows XP reboots) while I'm using Thunderbird or Firefox. No crash report is generated. Several times, the password file has been corrupted. When I examine the corrupt password file in scratchpad, It's nothing but red squares (no readable text). The password file has been corrupted 3 times, but the crashes have happened a hundred times since the beginning of the year. I have updated Firefox and Thunderbird several times since the problem started. I moved the Tbird profiles folder to a different physical disk (I have 2 drives) but that didn't help. Any ideas?

hello, please try to disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general and see if this is making a difference in regards to the system crashes (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).
Thanks for the suggestion, but it crashed again and again corrupted the passwords file. I had tried disabling video hardware acceleration in Windows earlier, but that didn't help.
I don't really know if Firefox or Tbird are the problem, but the computer crashes when one of them is running. Of course, those are the programs I use the most.
