QuickTime fails, questionmark
I have the QuickTime 7.7.7 Firefox plugin installed
I go to this page, and previously, the midi file plays - the player is in the top left corner:
All Glory, Laud and Honor . . . http://www.nethymnal.org/htm/a/g/aglahonr.htm
I go there now, and there is just a "Q" with a question mark in it, and the midi file does not play.
I tried de-installing and re-installing QT.
The page will play in IE, but not FF. What's wrong in FF?

What plugin is IE using?
Is that the Windows Media Player?
I assume that QT has taken over the MIDI MIME type (), but isn't able to play this file. In the past this had happened with Flash content.
You can see on the about:plugins page what MIME types a plugin supports.
Yea, IE is using Windows Media Player, please see attached.
I installed the WMP for FF plugin
Then I did this: In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. Search for plugins.load_appdir_plugins Double-click plugins.load_appdir_plugins to change its value to true Restart FF
I went back to the page, and still got the Q with a question mark in it - so it's not using that plugin.
I went to the FF "Content" section, and did a query for "mid." There were two of them (please see attached), I set both of them to the WMP.
I go back to the page, and it still gives me the Q with a question mark.
Any ideas?

I looked through all of this. It won't play an embedded .mid.
It looks like this is a known issue. Is it going to be fixed?

If you have Windows Media set to play non windows media file types (such as mp3 or midi) then the plugin doesn't work in Firefox.
This is because pluginreg.dat only contains Windows Media Player entries for windows media file types.
Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Ensure Windows Media Player is your default player for midi files 2. Check that Quicktime, and any other player, is not set to handle MIDI mime types (easiest way is checking about:plugins). 3. Load a web-site with an embedded MIDI file.

If you go to . . . about:plugins QuickTime Plug-in 7.7.7 has both the .mid and .midi extensions Microsoft Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin does not have either
Control Panel / QuickTime / Browser tab . . . File Types - .mid and .midi are un-checkable . . . MIME Settings - .mid and .midi are un-checkable
Control Panel / Default Programs . . . you can change .mid and .midi to either "Firefox" or "Windows Media Player" . . . The page I'm looking at has an embedded .mid . . . when set to Firefox, it does not play - nor when set to WMP
Firefox / Options / Applications / search for .mid . . . set both to "Use Windows Media Player (default)" . . . the embedded .mid still does not play . . . if I click on the web page to download the .mid, it auto-plays in the separate WM Player . . . Why doesn't it play embedded in the web page?
Control Panel / QuickTime / Browser tab . . . File Types - .mid and .midi are both un-checked . . . MIME Settings - .mid and .midi are both un-checked . . . changing the Default Programs apparently changes it here, but does not affect the Firefox browser plugins
