Could the developers of Firefox please re-implement the feature that enables setting a specific webpage for newly opened tabs (as prevented from 2015-Oct-03)?
4 Oct 2015. This question is directed more to developers than users. With the introduction of New Tab Controls an hour or two ago, the about:Config, browser.newtab.url setting no longer works. I found this feature very useful, and don't much like new tabs displaying my favorite pages as icons (or otherwise), or just being blank. If this question does reach the developers (people to whom I and every user of Firefox are indebted, albeit not financially), could they consider adding a New Tab Control setting that provides the option of setting a selected page that need not necessarily be the Home Page? Thank you.

Hi, from Firefox 41, you need to use the add-on New Tab Override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the New Tab page.
Once installed, open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A) > Extensions, then look for New Tab Override and click on Options to set your preference.
Note, if you only want the New Tab to be the same as your Home page, you can use the add-on New Tab Homepage instead.
You may then need to restart Firefox for any changes to take effect.
If you wish to give feedback to Mozilla developers, you can do so here.
