hi, i had to reset my laptop and it deleted Thunderbird ... i reinstalled it no problem but where are my emails?
my laptop wouldn't load Windows but then a screen came up and gave me a few options (i.e. Turn PC On/Off) which i did. It didn't work. i clicked on the Advance solutions which gave me two options: 1. Reset - which would keep my files but delete any apps; and 2. Reboot - which would delete everything back to factory settings. i did Reset which deleted Thunderbird among other programs. Anyway i figure if i reinstalled Thunderbird all of my emails would appear, they haven't. i'm sure they are somewhere around here i just don't know where to look. Can anybody help me?

You can check for a folder named
C:\Windows.old\Users\your-username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird
If you do not immediately see AppData, make sure Windows shows hidden files and folders. To change that setting, see this article - hopefully it's similar in Windows 10: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files
Can you find it?
If not, do you have a backup of your Thunderbird profile folder?

from the start menu or the windows explorer location bar type %appdata% and press enter.
open the Thunderbird folder, then the profiles one. Is there more than one folder in the profiles folder?

@Matt & christ1, Thank you very much for helping me :). i found my profile and put it back on my Thunderbird, so my email is back to normal. Plus i made a back-up just in case something like this happens again. i was freaking out because i called/ visited three different computer repair places and none of them could help. You guys are my Obi-Wans ... Thank you again.
When looking for an It person. Ask them what qualifications they have that are not issued by Microsoft. If the answer is none, it is usually a good idea to keep moving along. There is unfortunately a trend in IT where so called professionals only know one vendors products and in the case of Microsoft, they appear in some cases to think anything else is just wrong. But it is not just them. Apple and IBM appear to manufacture almost as many professionals that are not more that marketing monkeys.
