Bookmarks Are Messing Up After Sync
Hi,
I have two machines a Windows laptop tablet and Android tablet i wanted to sync. The tablet is new so there is nothing there, whereas the Firefox on the laptop has lots of bookmarks. I created a new sync account on the laptop, and then also signed in from the tablet. A day after i have notices on the laptop the bookmarks have totally messed up. duplicates, missing bookmarks, duplicated folders but different content. To make a long story short - this is totally not what i expected.
Now I checked in what phase of the process it happened. 1. Logged off sync on the laptop (only from laptop - not the tablet).
Restore the bookmarks from Firefox backup. Checked everything is ok. reconnect to sync.
Results: Bookmarks messed up. seems like in a very similar way like the first time, maybe even identical.
now I checked the laptop, and the sync indicated that lat sync was 3 hours ago, suggesting it maybe was connected, but it was not in process. At least this is what i understand.
2. Logged of the sync on the laptop. it actually say Remove Account.
Logged of sync on laptop Restored bookmarks on laptop from Firefox backup Logged in again on laptop.
Result: Bookmarks OK.
Now I want to delete all bookmarks on the tablet and reconnect to sync, to see if it happens again. the problem is that I couldn't find the way to delete all bookmarks at once, nor even a bookmark folder. just one bookmark at the time. I don't understand that.
so the issues are: Sync seems to work BAD. Very Bad. useless. I don't understand the inability to delete all bookmarks on android at once.
Please advice.

anyone?
Hi OJNSin, Yes this is one of the pitfalls of Bookmark organization between mobile and desktop. The organization will merge and the bookmarks that are the same on either device will be listed in unsorted which looks like there are duplicates, be careful if you delete one they both are removed afaik. I do know that the folders separate mobile from desktop on both devices. However this is currently the expected behavior and you have discovered the recovery process. I apologize for the headache.
hi What you actually say is the sync half baked service, this is a very known issue. I can understand that for a beta version, not a mature product. The all point of the sync is based on the fact that one has more than one machine, and this happens because of the mobile revolution.
The first time I used the sync the tablet had no bookmarks, so If i understand this explanation, the result should have been OK. anyway, you are trying to explain the chaos, but I an not sure the chaos should not be explained in this case :)
Even after canceling the sync, clearing the all bookmarks from the tablet in one click, is not possible. Only one by one, and no folder deletion. I find this even more amazing.
Disappointing :(
