can't uninstall annoying fast start browser hijacker and can't even find it in files to uninstall kaspersky missed it

I was downloading picassa when kaspersky told me there was a problem and disinfected which resulted in me losing firefox. downloaded mozilla again but came with fast start. I uninstalled and re downloaded mozilla several times but fast start kept coming. now i cant find fast start anywhere in add ons or files to uninstall. Please how do I get rid of this rubbish add on? regards peter

You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar and search for prefs that refer to the fast start page. You can reset user set (bold) pref(s) prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.
